AMS2700B is a widely accepted passivation standard in the aerospace industry. It is virtually identical to ASTM A967, the most accepted general industry passivating standard. AMS2700B allows for the use of citric acid and nitric acid solutions, the former of which is the newer, more effective method. The AMS2700B standard prescribes the concentrations, temperatures, times and water quality required for the passivation of stainless steel.
