Citric Acid Passivation – Passivating Stainless Steel
Using the citric acid passivation method, you can improve a piece of steel's resistance to staining considerably. Though steel can never been 100% stain-proof, our citric passivation process gets it as close to that as possible. During passivation, a protective microscopic film is allowed to form on the surface once exposed to the air or an open containing environment, which then protects from corrosion.

- Passivate using deionized water and citric acid
- Testing of passivated parts with a copper sulfate test

RPA passivates in accordance to ASTM A-967-05.7(7.1.1 thru 188.8.131.52) and rinse 7.2 testing is preformed according to spec A-967-05.15 practice B. All parts are cleaned or descaled to ASTM spec A-380-06. 5.3, 6.2.1, 6.2.2, 6.2.5, 6.2.8, 6.2.11.
