Ultrasonic Passivation Services
Ultrasonic passivation the process of improving the stain resistance of stainless steel with the help of cyclic sound pressure. During the passivation process, ultrasonic sound waves drive citric acid deep into the metal, removing free ions so that a protective, ultra-thin microscopic film—about 100,000 times thinner than a human hair, and thus not affecting tolerance levels at all—is allowed to form on the surface. Once the stainless steel is exposed to air, chromium in the metal reacts to the oxygen, creating a sort of shell that protects the material from corrosion or rust.
Our Ultrasonic Passivation Services Include:
- Passivation of small batches to large 3'x3'x3 sizes
- Passivation using deionized water and citric acid
- Copper sulfate testing of passivated parts
- Pre-passivation cleaning of parts
We can passivate a wide assortment of stainless steel types, including:
